Something that we have been learning about recently is volcanoes. We have mainly been looking at the different parts of a volcano and researching how volcanoes work. I think we will be writing explanations about how volcanoes work next week. We played jeopardy to remember the facts about volcanoes. That was really fun.
I was not really that interested in volcanoes, but I have been learning some interesting facts. For example, I learnt that lava is actually melted rock! But I probably won’t use this information in the future all that much. I know that the research that I have been involved in is important, and developing good research skills is important. This is because no matter what I study in the future I will need to be good at research because it is a skill that is used in all parts of schooling.
I think that it is good that we are learning about volcanoes because I can see that what we have been learning would be interesting for some people. Maybe we could have learnt a little bit about a whole lot of natural disasters (earth quakes, floods etc), then picked a disaster to research. That would have been more interesting.

Now you have an example for your learning journals. Use this when you are not sure how to structure your journal entries. But remember to refer to the sheet that is glued into your books too.

hey i read it and it was interesting and maybe later we can do a project on it or a essay or a assignment.
